FutureEUAqua, the breeding potential for nutrition and health physiology traits in fish that will enable future aquaculture and sustainability and resilience will be verified, with focus on high fish performance, health and product quality. Further, feed formulations for smart optimized and better performing conventional and organic aquaculture, focusing on circular economy, will be made and thus safeguarding aquaculture sustainability and product nutritional quality and safety.  

Ingredients and design formulations will be selected for commercially relevant tailored-made aquafeeds, ensuring higher performance in the future compared to the current standards, maintaining or enhancing nutritional value and environmental friendliness.  

The potential of innovative low ecological footprint aquafeeds will be verified in terms of fish performance and health in large-scale farm level for well-established farmed species. FutureEUAqua will also assess the potential of fish microbiome to enhance health and productivity of farmed species.
